Buiding a paver deck for a firepit in the backyard.
I decided I wanted to have a nice firepit area in the backyard to entertain guests with and just to have for myself also. I wanted something more than just a hole in the ground with rocks around it though. So I decided to lay 100sq feet of paver bricks (16"x16"), providing a sitting area around the fire.
I first dug out the grass that was there and a few inches of soil, replacing it with sand as a base. (makes it much easier to level the pavers and more stable than the dirt.) I lined the insde ring with some skinny hedging bricks for looks, and then layed loose rock in the ceter for the fire bowl to site on top of. I framed the pavers with some 8' long wood posts and screwed them together to make it tight. Turned out great!
Total time to completion estimated at 25 hours. Total cost around $350. (Will lay mulch and plant hedges around it also in the future)
